East Bladen 63, Union 12

Juniors Lacey Suggs and Abby Ward combined for 40 points to lead undefeated East Bladen to a 63-12 Four County Conference girls basketball victory Friday night over visiting Union.

Lacey-SuggsSuggs racked up 24 points, 6 steals and 4 assists to lead the Lady Eagle attack. Ward buried both of her 3-point shots and connected on all 5 of her 2-point attempts to finish 7 for 7 from the field. Ward finished with 16 points and 4 steals.

Christina-CromartieJunior Christiana Cromartie filled up the stat sheet with 6 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 5 blocks and 6 steals. Senior Abby Norris added 3 points and 4 rebounds. Guard Michelle Page tallied 5 points, and Miller Heustess contributed 4 points.

East Bladen raced to a 20-4 first quarter lead and a 17-3 second-quarter blitz stretched the margin to 37-7 at halftime. The Lady Eagles shutout Union in the third period to widen the gap to 53-7.

Cheerleaders2Cheerleaders3Coach Patty Evers’ Lady Eagles improved to 6-0 in the Four County and 16-0 overall. East Bladen, the No. 1 team in NC Preps Class 2-A State poll, will host county rival East Bladen Wednesday.
