BURLINGTON – Brunswick Community College edged Louisburg 5-4 Monday to win the Region X/South Atlantic District Division II Baseball Tournament and earn a berth in the NJCAA Division II World Series that begins May 25th in Enid, Oklahoma.
Former East Bladen star Evan Pait is a member of Coach Robbie Allen’s Brunswick Dolphins who own a 48-8 record. The Dolphins won their tourney opener Thursday 6-2 over Catawba Valley Community, but then dropped a 9-4 decision Friday to Louisburg.
Brunswick bounced back Saturday with 2 wins, pounding Catawba Valley 13-2 in 5 innings then outlasting Bryant & Stratton 10-8. Sunday the Dolphins edged Patrick & Henry 9-8 then posted a 9-8 10-inning victory over Louisburg to force a final game Monday.
Pait has appeared in 12 games and started 6 for Brunswick Community. The freshman right-hander owns a 7-3 record and 3.72 earned run average. He has struck out 52 batters in 48.1 innings while allowing 49 hits and 20 earned runs.
