Cape Fear Valley-Bladen County Hospital is extending a cordial invitation to the community to celebrate Nurses Week 2024 with a touching “Blessing of the Hands Ceremony” and a “Candlelight Walk.” This event is graciously sponsored by the Bladen County Health Department in collaboration with Cape Fear Valley-Bladen.

Nurses Week is a time to acknowledge the tireless efforts, compassion, and dedication of nurses across the country. The ceremony will provide a moment to honor and reflect on the vital role these healthcare professionals play in patient care and the community’s well-being.

The “Blessing of the Hands” is a symbolic event where nurses’ hands are anointed, recognizing their importance in providing care and healing. This powerful ceremony is intended to reaffirm the commitment of nurses to their profession and to the individuals they serve.

Following the ceremony, participants will engage in a Candlelight Walk, a visual representation of support and solidarity for the nursing profession. This walk symbolizes the light that nurses bring into the darkest moments of people’s lives through their care and expertise.

The celebration is scheduled to take place on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 6 PM, at the Elizabethtown Farmers Market. It is an opportunity for the local community to show appreciation for nurses and to partake in an evening of reflection and camaraderie.

Cape Fear Valley-Bladen County Hospital invites all community members to join in honoring these everyday heroes. The event is not only a tribute to the nursing staff but also a communal gathering to strengthen ties and express gratitude for those who dedicate their lives to serving others.
