Elizabethtown, NC –Despite other cancellations due to inclement weather, the Car Seat Check-Up Event scheduled for this Saturday, September 23, 2023, is still set to proceed as planned. Town of Elizabethtown Fire Chief Hollis Freeman, and Isabella Faison, Health Educator I, representing the Bladen County Health Department, have confirmed the event’s status.

Taking place at the Elizabethtown Fire Department, located at 300 East Broad Street, the event will run from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, offering a valuable opportunity for local residents to ensure the safety of their young passengers. The services provided at the event are free of charge.

One of the features of this event is the presence of Nationally Certified Technicians who will be on-site to provide expert guidance on the proper installation of car seats. With child safety as a top priority, parents and guardians can have peace of mind knowing that their little ones are securely and safely buckled up.

In addition to the car seat check-up, Chief Hollis also used the occasion to remind residents about the upcoming Daylight Savings Time, which is on Sunday, November 5, 2023. As the clocks are turned back, it’s the perfect moment to remember to change the batteries in your smoke alarms. This simple act can make a significant difference in ensuring the safety of your home and loved ones.

The Car Seat Check-Up Event is made possible through the collaborative efforts of Safe Kids: Bladen, the Bladen County Health and Human Services Agency, and the Elizabethtown Fire Department. This event underscores the community’s commitment to promoting child safety and overall well-being.

Parents and caregivers, make sure to mark your calendars and head to the Elizabethtown Fire Department this Saturday. Don’t miss this opportunity to ensure your child’s safety on the road.
