Cate DeVane and A.J. Smith were double winners Wednesday night as East Bladen honored its track and field teams and cross country teams during a year-end banquet.
DeVane, a sophomore, was named Most Valuable Player in girls’ track and field and girls’ cross country.
Smith, a senior, was named Most Valuable Player in boys’ track and field and boys’ cross country.

Both DeVane and Smith qualified for the NCHSAA 2-A cross country state championship meet in Winston-Salem. DeVane finished 67th out of 94 runners in the girls’ race. Smith placed 61st out of 100 runners in the boys’ race.
In track and field, Smith and DeVane competed in the 800 meters and 1,600 meters.
