Clarkton United Methodist Church held its fifth annual God’s Bounty meal on Thanksgiving Day.  With God’s Bounty the church provides a free turkey dinner to anyone that is hungry.  Meals are served or delivered starting around 1100 and continues until 200 or until the meals run out.

This year over 130 meals were served.  Churches providing supplies included Bluefield United Methodist Church and Clarkton First Baptist Church.  DG Melvin and Billy Piland of Like Home Catering cooked the turkeys, and assistance was provided by Jerome Myers from Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Adam Marlowe from Clarkton First Baptist Church and Shannon Pate from Windsor United Methodist Church.  We also received generous contributions from members of the community.

We look forward to another God’s Bounty next year.  As one Clarkton UMC member said “It’s not Thanksgiving without God’s Bounty”.
