Bladenboro native Clint Allen batted 3-4 and drove in a run Friday as his Coker College Cobras defeated Erskine College 10-8 in Due West, SC.
Allen smacked a single to right field in the top of the second inning to drive in teammate Jack Leech and give Coker a 2-1 lead.
In the fourth inning, Allen belted a lead-off single but was eventually thrown out at the plate on a fielder’s choice. However, Coker scored 4 times in the inning to take a 7-2 lead.
Allen ripped a one-out single to left-center in the seventh inning, advanced to second on the throw to third base and raced home on Will Winslow’s single to push the Cobra lead to 9-7.
Coker continues the series today with a double-header at Erskine beginning at 12 noon.
