WASHINGTON – Congressman Robert Pittenger had this statement after learning of the passing of Cliff Barrows, who led music at Billy Graham Crusades for nearly 70 years.
“Cliff Barrows is now singing praises in heaven! Cliff’s warm demeanor was always an important part of communicating God’s love through television, one-on-one, and in massive stadiums. No doubt he will meet tens of thousands of believers in heaven who came forward as he led the crusade choir in ‘Just As I Am.’
“Cliff Barrows first led music for Billy Graham in Asheville in 1945, and the first time Billy Graham, Cliff Barrows, and George Beverly Shea appeared together was at the Charlotte crusade in 1947, so those of us in North Carolina have long and special memories of the team.”
