WASHINGTON – Congressman Robert Pittenger (NC-09) issued this statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act (H.R. 38):

“The 2nd Amendment guarantees Americans the right to bear arms. The freedom of speech isn’t restricted by state lines, and neither should our 2nd Amendment rights.

“Millions of Americans have met the extensive requirements necessary to receive a concealed carry permit. However, some states severely restrict the ability of these law abiding citizens to exercise their right to carry.  Such restrictions infringe upon our 2nd Amendment rights.

“To address this troubling problem, I co-sponsored and voted for the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act, which ensures that every state in the Union respects concealed carry permits issued in other states. Additionally, I’d like to thank my good friend, Congressman Richard Hudson, for all of his work on this important legislation.”
