WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Robert Pittenger (NC-09) had this statement following the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold a lower court ruling that President Obama’s amnesty plan for illegal immigrants is unlawful:
“The Founding Fathers gave President Obama a clear job description, to take care that the laws be faithfully executed. That means enforcing the law, not issuing a royal decree to ignore the law. There is no Constitutional clause about using your pen and your phone. According to the Constitution, Congress makes the law.
“Today’s Supreme Court decision reinforces America’s separation of powers and careful system of checks and balances. Now, we encourage President Obama to work with Congress on common sense steps to secure our borders.”
