CLARKTON – Bladen County held off a furious last-inning rally Sunday night and escaped with a 6-5 victory over West Robeson National in an elimination game in the Dixie Youth Baseball District 2 AA (Coach-Pitch) Supplemental Tournament.
The Bladen All-Stars led 6-0 going into the bottom of the sixth inning, but West Robeson scored 5 times to trim the final margin to 6-5.
“We hit the ball a little bit,” said Bladen Coach Scotty Hazel. “The infield played a good game and the outfield got the ball in fast. Overall, we just had a little better bats than yesterday.”
Bladen County advances to a 6:30 elimination game Monday against Nakina.
In a later game Sunday, Elizabethtown rolled to a 16-1, 3-inning victory over Columbus County. Elizabethtown advanced to an 8 p.m. winners bracket game against West Robeson American.
