ELIZABETHTOWN – Jaxon Hair pitched a 2-hit shutout and struck out 10 batters to lead the Tar Heels to a 4-0 victory over the Rays in Dixie Boys Baseball action Tuesday night.

Jamari Adams drew a 1-out walk in the Tar Heel 4th inning. Fox Sutton hammered a drive to right-center field that scored Adams with the 1st run of the game.

Braiden Dixon ripped a single to left, then stole 2nd base, 3rd base and home to pad the Tar Heel lead to 2-0 in the Tar Heel 5th inning.

C.J. McCracken, Omar Powell and Dixon drew walks to start the Tar Heel 6th inning. Jayden Byrd’s fielder’s choice forced McCracken at the plate. Edwards belted a single that scored Powell and Dixon to boost the lead to 4-0.

Dixon singled, walked and scored twice for the Tar Heels. Edwards and Sutton connected for 1 hit each and Powell and Adams scored runs.

Rex Register and Noah German smacked singles for the Rays.

Claxton Tatum started and pitched the 1st 4 innings for the Rays, striking out 11 batters and allowing a run on a hit and 4 walks. Dylan McLaurin worked 0.2 innings of relief and allowed a run on a hit and 2 walks while striking out 2. Hutchens Glenn pitched 0.2 innings of relief and gave up 2 runs on 4 walks while striking out one. German pitched the final 0.2 innings and allowed 1 hit.
