The Dublin Board of Commissioners approved holiday bonuses for town employees Monday night at its final regularly scheduled meeting of the year. Full time employees will be given $300, part-time employees $100, and temporary employees $50, which is the same amount as last year.

During the brief meeting, the board got updates on the town’s sewer system, which has been experiencing problems for the past several months, and the automated water meters, which are expected to be installed in the first half of 2015. The board also plans to wait until next year to begin the process to hire a part-time clerk to work at Town Hall.

Pump No. 2 at the Lyon Landing Road station still won’t prime properly, Public Works director Jonathan Ward reported, and it’s still on the bypass pump. Ward said new check values are expected to arrive Friday. At its November meeting, the board approved getting a camera to look inside the pipes in order to find out what was causing the problems.

Mayor Horace Wyatt reported that paperwork is being completed as part of the funding process for the town’s automated water meters. Wyatt said he expected installation to begin in February or March. The town has a state revolving fund loan of about $150,000 from the N.C. Division of Water Infrastructure to finance the project. The board has agreed to an engineering services agreement with Withers & Ravenel of Cary to provide the design, loan administration, and construction administration services for replacement of existing water meters with automated water meters that will have drive-by technology.
