Spread the love

The Dublin Peanut Festival Committee organized a fish fry fundraiser on Saturday, March 12, 2022, in order to raise money for future festivals. Aside from the weather, which began out uncertain and finished up being great.  The event was a success thanks to the efforts of many volunteers.  Several volunteers contributed to making the event a success. The fish was prepared by Mr. Horace Wyatt and his crew, while others contributed delicious sides. The festival queens made an appearance and volunteered their time for this event. Local business support has such a significant impact on the success of charitable events. Both LuMil and IGA continue to support events sponsored by the Dublin Festival Committees. Each year, local groups and individuals from Bladen County contribute to the event’s success.

The Dublin Peanut Festival is scheduled for September 17th, 2022. The peanut festival will celebrate its 30th anniversary this year. There will be additional fundraising efforts to make this festival one-of-a-kind. Last year’s marathon was a success, but the organizers are expecting even more attendance in 2022. The festival’s yearly pageant and additional events are made largely due to the money collected due to several fundraisers held throughout the year. Scholarships for high school students are awarded each year depending on GPA, community service and letters of recommendation. The Dublin Peanut Festival presents this scholarship each May. In addition, organizing an event can prove challenging. Volunteers are needed to fill open positions on the Dublin Festival Committee. Committee members will meet again on April 14th at the Dublin Fire Department. Committee meetings will be held on the second Thursday of each month. Any questions regarding the Dublin Peanut Festival’s charitable efforts or want to help, please contact the festival’s director, Christy Dowless, by email atwww.dublinpeanutfestival.com or Facebook.
