TABOR CITY – Whiteville defeated Elizabethtown 13-4 Monday in an elimination game of the Dixie Youth Baseball District 2 AAA (Minors) Supplemental Tournament.
Wake Wells and Conner Prescott knocked in runs for Elizabethtown. Tony Robinson walked and stole 2nd and 3rd bases then stole home with another run.
Wells, Prescott and Jase Allen shared the pitching duties for Elizabethtown. Wells struck out 4 batters. Prescott struck out 3, and Allen struck out one.
“It was a true honor for me to be able to coach the Tigers and the Elizabethtown Supplemental All-Stars,” said Elizabethtown Coach Phillip Daw. “It’s been a blessing to see the kids grow in baseball, and it’s also given me time to be with my own son and watch him as well. I am looking forward to next season. Losing is never fun, but I go home feeling blessed to have been able to be involved. For me it’s all about the kids.”
