MOUNT OLIVE- East Bladen grads Eian and Ethan Hines turned in strong performances Saturday to help their Mount Olive track and field team win the Trojan Challenge over 15 other teams.

Freshman Eian Hines finished second in the long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 11.5 inches. Sophmore Ethan Hines placed fourth with a jump of 21 feet, .075 inches. Teammate Trevor Carr won the long jump.

In the triple jump, Eian Hines claimed fourth place with a leap of 45 feet, 3.75 inches. Twin brother Ethan Hines was eighth with a distance of 41 feet, 11.25 inches.

Earlier this month Eian Hines’ leap of 22 feet, 5 inches won the long jump in a dual meet with UNC-Pembroke. In the triple jump Eian Hines was second with a distance of 45 feet, 2 inches. Ethan Hines was fifth with a jump of 41 feet, .7 inches. Mount Olive won the meet by a 93-51 margin.

In the Conference Carolinas Indoor Meet, Eian was fourth with a long jump of 22 feet, 11 inches, and Ethan was eighth with a leap of 21 feet, 11.75 inches.

In the VMI Winter Relays, Eian Hines was fourth in the long jump (21 feet, 11.5 inches) and Ethan Hines was seventh (21 feet, 6 inches). Ethan Hines placed ninth in the triple jump (42 feet, 4.25 inches).

In the Vince Brown Invitational in Newport News, VA, Eian Hines placed fourth in the long jump (22 feet, 1.75 inches) and Ethan Hines was ninth (21 feet, 0.5 inches). Eian Hines finished second in the triple jump (43 feet, 5 inches), and Ethan Hines was seventh (39 feet, 8.75 inches).

The Trojans are scheduled to compete in the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, VA Thursday thru Saturday.
