ELIZABETHTOWN – The Elizabethtown Rotary Club proudly honored two esteemed members, Mary Jo Lennon and Whitley Ward, by awarding them the prestigious Paul Harris Fellow recognition. At the Rotary ceremony, the awards were given by Anne Beyer, the current president of the Elizabethtown Rotary Club, and Renee Horton, the existing foundation chair.
The Paul Harris Fellow recognition is a testament to Rotary members who demonstrate a profound commitment to the organization through financial contributions and exemplify a spirit of voluntary service to the Elizabethtown Rotary Club and the community it serves.
The award’s namesake, Paul Harris, is synonymous with individuals who have contributed a minimum of $1,000 to the Rotary International Foundation, a global organization dedicated to humanitarian service, promoting goodwill, and fostering peace worldwide. However, the essence of the Paul Harris Fellow recognition extends beyond monetary donations.
Mary Jo Lennon, the treasurer of the Elizabethtown Rotary Club, and Whitley Ward, a past president who currently serves as the public relations chair, have been pivotal in the club’s initiatives. Both individuals have been actively involved in the scholarship committee, working tirelessly to empower aspiring students with educational opportunities. Additionally, they have dedicated their efforts to the fundraising and service committee, contributing significantly to the betterment of the Elizabethtown community.
