Bladen County, NC – In a display of their commitment to community service, the members of the Elizabethtown Rotary Club recently embarked on a mission to distribute dictionaries to local third-grade students. This project is not only cherished by the Rotarians but also eagerly anticipated by the students who benefit from it. What makes these dictionaries particularly special is that they offer more than just definitions; they are comprehensive resources that provide valuable insights into various fields of knowledge, including science, mathematics, history, geography, and much more.*

For years, the Elizabethtown Rotary Club has dedicated its time and resources to improving the lives of their fellow community members. The dictionary distribution project is just one of the many ways in which they fulfill their mission to serve others selflessly.

The dictionaries were distributed to third-grade students at the following local schools: Bladen Lakes Primary, Dublin Primary School, East Arcadia Elementary, Elizabethtown Primary, Emereau: Bladen, Plain View Elementary School, Homestead Christian Academy, and Elizabethtown Christian Academy. This widespread outreach ensures that a significant number of students benefit from this generous initiative.

In a separate act of kindness, the Bladenboro Rotary Club takes the opportunity each year to present dictionaries to third-grade students at Bladenboro Primary School. The impact of this project resonates throughout the community, thanks to the dedication of both Rotary clubs.

The essence of Rotary service is encapsulated in its motto, “Service Above Self.” By handing out over 250 dictionaries to local students this year, the Rotary members have once again exemplified their unwavering commitment to making a difference in their community.

For the third-grade students, this gift is much more than a simple dictionary. It’s a personal resource that opens up new worlds of knowledge. Alongside definitions, the dictionaries are packed with extra features, making them even more valuable. For the students, the joy of discovering these additional resources is an exciting adventure. One of the highlights is often finding the longest word, a fun and engaging activity that reinforces the love of learning.

The Elizabethtown Rotary Club’s dictionary project is a testament to the power of community and education. By providing these dictionaries, the Rotarians are not just giving words; they are giving the keys to a world of knowledge and learning. The impact of this project extends far beyond the pages of a book, enriching the lives of local students and inspiring them to explore the wonders of language and learning.

As the Elizabethtown Rotary Club continues to work on projects that uplift and educate the community, their dedication to “service above self” remains a beacon of hope and inspiration for all.
