The North Carolina Department of Transportation announced Friday morning that the Elwell Ferry is closed due to high water. The ferry is scheduled to reopen on Monday, January 9, 2023, at 7 am.
Faye Boyne with NCDOT also sent a reminder that both lanes of the North Bound US Highway 701 over the Cape Fear River are closed. Traffic will be rerouted to the Southbound lanes. The closure has a WIDE LOAD TRAFFIC RESTRICTION.
