From Ohio to Fayetteville, and now Bladen County, meet Kristen Carpenter, the new Development Officer for the Bladen County Hospital Foundation. Armed with ambition and a passion for community growth, Kristen is set to make a lasting impact on the healthcare landscape.

Originally hailing from Ohio, Kristen Carpenter’s journey took a fortunate turn when she graduated from the University of Cincinnati. With her sights set on making a difference in the healthcare sector, Kristen and her husband ventured to Fayetteville, North Carolina, where her partner is in the esteemed Cape Fear Valley Health System’s residency program. Kristen accepted the Development Coordinator for Community Engagement role at Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation in 2021. Before relocating to Fayetteville in 2021, Kristen gained healthcare philanthropy experience while working at the Bethesda Foundation in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her educational background includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication from the University of Cincinnati, a Minor in Professional Sales, and a Certificate in Public Relations.

Bladen County native Ashley Dowless did an outstanding job as the Development Officer before she took up the Corporate Director of Recruitment position at Cape Fear Valley. Now, it’s Kristen Carpenter’s time to shine as she steps into the role, eager to continue the Foundation’s vital work.

As the new Development Officer, Kristen is determined to bolster Cape Fear Valley’s efforts in Bladen and Hoke Counties. Embracing a community-centric approach, Kristen is keen on building meaningful connections and getting to know the pulse of the community she serves.

Within the next six months, Kristen envisions introducing projects and programs to empower the community further. One exciting initiative is the creation of a new Mammogram Suite at Bladen County Hospital, with plans underway to provide free mammograms in the future.

Understanding the importance of grassroots involvement, Kristen aims to forge strong ties with civic organizations, churches, and community-minded groups. By immersing herself in these organizations, she hopes to comprehend the community’s needs and aspirations better, ultimately ensuring the Foundation’s endeavors align with the public’s interests.

At the core of the Bladen County Hospital Foundation’s mission lies the goal of enhancing patient care. Kristen believes that by supporting healthcare providers, the Foundation is pivotal in enabling medical professionals to focus solely on serving their patients’ well-being.

With open communication as a top priority, Kristen keeps the public informed about the Foundation’s latest happenings through newsletters, the Foundation’s Facebook page, and its website: capefearvalley.com. The community can contribute to the Foundation’s efforts by donating through the website or contacting Kristen directly via phone at 910-615-1514 or by email at kcarpenter@capefearvalley.com.
