The latest information on the Bladen County Tax Office indicates two employees have been terminated for “unacceptable personal conduct”
Tax Administrator Chris Ellis was terminated following a special meeting at noontime Monday.
Supporting the firing was Chairman Charles Ray Peterson, Russell Priest, Jimmy Smith, Daniel Dowless, Billy Ray Pait and Wayne Edge. Opposing was Dr. Delilah Blanks, Michael Cogdell and Arthur Bullock.
Ellis was present for the hearing.
County Manager Greg Martin confirmed Wednesday that Chris Johnson, a tax appraiser, was terminated earlier and the action was related to the Ellis firing.
Renee Davis and Carol Cain will handle duties in the tax office while commissioners consider their next move.
