While the deadline for registration to receive assistance for damage received during Hurricane Matthew has expired, FEMA is encouraging residents to call the agency with their questions or to learn the status of an application. Applications received prior to the deadline are still being reviewed. 

As of February 18, Bladen County has had 2,968 residents apply for disaster assistance through FEMA and $ 2,319,863.40 in disaster relief funds have been approved.

Robeson County, one of the hardest hit areas, has had 18,516 residents apply for assistance and $24,321,920.81 has been approved. Columbus County, another hard hit area, has had 5,185 applicants and has $6,086,285.11 in FEMA assistance approved.

Statewide, there have been 81,346  application submitted and $92.5 million in FEMA disaster assistance has been approved.

There are three ways to reach FEMA:

*Online at DisasterAssistance.gov.

*Call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362 for voice, 711 and Video Relay Service. If you are deaf, hard of hearing or have a speech disability and use a TTY, call 800-462-7585.

The application deadline for a U.S. Small Business Administration low-interest disaster loan also has also passed. For information, call the SBA Disaster Assistance Customer Service Center at 800-659-2955, or email disastercustomerservice@SBA.gov or visit SBA’s website at www.sba.gov/disaster. If you are deaf, hard-of-hearing or have a speech disability and use a TTY, call 800-877-8339.will open late tomorrow afternoon (unless rain today is heavier than forecast).
