Life can often present us with challenges and struggles that seem impossible. Whether it’s addiction, personal struggles, or issues like codependency and anger management, we all face obstacles that can leave us feeling overwhelmed and defeated. However, in the heart of Elizabethtown, Celebrate Recovery provides hope and a safe harbor for those seeking freedom from their hurts, hang-ups, and habits.

Meet Kincy Barrow: Co-Director of Celebrate Recovery

At the forefront of this life-changing program is Kincy Barrow, a compassionate soul who serves as the Co-Director of Celebrate Recovery and the Executive Director of South Eastern Carolina Crossroads. With a vision for helping people find community and healing, Kincy Barrow has provided a sanctuary where individuals can reclaim their lives and find a sense of belonging.

A Safe Place to Belong

“Celebrate Recovery is a place to belong; everybody is recovering from something,” Kincy Barrow asserts. “An addiction, a personal struggle, or even something like codependency or anger management. It’s a safe place to come, be accepted, and talk about struggles.” It’s this acceptance that forms the cornerstone of the program’s success. In a world where judgment and criticism can be pervasive, Celebrate Recovery offers a non-judgmental environment where people can come together, share their experiences, and support each other without fear of reproach.

Thursday Evenings: A Journey Towards Healing

Every Thursday evening, the Elizabethtown Baptist Church becomes a sanctuary of hope for those seeking solace and healing. The evening commences with dinner at 6 o’clock, fostering community and fellowship. This nourishment goes beyond the culinary delights, as individuals have an opportunity to connect with others who are walking similar paths.

At 7 o’clock, the large group session begins, filled with celebration and worship. It’s a time to connect with spirituality, drawing strength from a higher power, and recognize that there’s a path toward redemption. Through songs of hope and inspirational messages, participants are encouraged to face their struggles with newfound courage.

Later at 8 o’clock, the small group sessions create a space for authentic communication. Participants can open up about their challenges and share their stories without feeling pressured or judged. It’s a moment of vulnerability, where the walls come down, and the healing begins.

A Journey Without Time Constraints

Kincy Barrow emphasizes that the doors of Celebrate Recovery are open to all every Thursday at any time. There’s no specific starting point or end date, enabling individuals to embark on their healing journey at their own pace. This flexibility fosters a sense of comfort and encourages participants to take the first step toward recovery whenever they feel ready.

Celebrate Recovery, under the guidance of Co-Director Kincy Barrow, has become a beacon of hope for many struggling with life’s challenges. By providing a Christ-centered, 12-step recovery program, the initiative offers a safe place for individuals to find community, healing, and freedom from their hurts, hang-ups, and habits. Through the weekly gatherings, individuals are uplifted by the power of worship, the strength of shared experiences, and the unwavering support of fellow participants. Celebrate Recovery is a reminder that no matter the depths of despair, hope, healing, and transformation are always within reach.
