The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Cape Fear River at William O. Huske Lock and Dam No. 3 in Bladen County until Saturday morning.

At 10 p.m. Monday, the river at the dam located near the Bladen and Cumberland county line was measured at 36.5 feet. Flood stage is 42.0 feet.

The National Weather Service forecasts the Cape Fear River to rise above flood stage Wednesday morning and continue to rise to near 46.3 feet by early Thursday afternoon. The river is expected to fall below flood stage by early Saturday morning.

Flood waters are expected to affect areas along the left bank of the river with some minor overflow along the right bank around the flood warning area.

More rain is expected Tuesday in Bladen County with as much as 1/2 inch of rain forecast, according to the National Weather Service. Bladen Online’s rain gauge, which is part of the national Community Collaborative Rain, Hail & Snow Network (CoCoRaHS) had measured 1.25 inches of rain from Sunday evening through midnight Monday.
