WHITEVILLE – Whiteville raced to a 49-12 halftime lead en route to a 63-12 Three Rivers Conference football victory over West Bladen Tuesday night.

Tyler Hammond recovered a fumble in the end zone for the 1st Whiteville touchdown, and Kayshawn McCollum dashed 44 yards for a touchdown and a 12-0 Whiteville lead.

Nick Bellamy tallied the next Wolfpack TD on a 7-yard run, and quarterback Wendell Smith tossed a 2-point conversion pass to Quameak Ladson. Smith scooted 80 yards to pay dirt with a punt return, and Hammond ran the conversion for a 28-0 lead at the quarter break.

Brandon Tyson rushed 5 yards for a Wolfpack touchdown, and Smith ran the conversion 8:31 before halftime.

On 4th down and 8 at the Wolfpack 38, junior quarterback Devon Strange connected with senior ShyRon Adams on a 38-yard touchdown pass that put the Knights on the scoreboard and trimmed the margin to 36-6.

Tyson ran for a 12-yard touchdown, and moments later the Knights fumbled the kickoff. K. J. Hall scooped up the fumble and returned it 25 yards for a touchdown. Grayson Creech booted the extra point to push the lead to 49-6.

The Knights bounced back with a scoring drive of their own. Strange threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to junior tight end Kaiden Stanley 28 seconds before halftime.

Tyson galloped 33 yards for a Wolfpack touchdown that started the running clock due to the 40-point rule. Creech tacked on the extra point for a 56-12 lead. A 17-yard touchdown pass from Smith to Antonio McFadyen closed out the scoring, and Creech converted his 3rd conversion.

Tyson rushed for 57 yards and 3 touchdowns, but McCollum carried 3 times for 62 yards and a touchdown to lead the Whiteville runners. Shaheem Shipman gained 53 yards on 5 attempts. Smith completed both of his passes for 29 yards and a touchdown.

Strange completed 5 of 14 passes for 148 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Knights. Junior Demarius Robinson caught 3 passes for 82 yards. Adams snagged the 38-yard TD pass, and Stanley had one touchdown reception for 28 yards. Sophomore Gary Parker rushed 12 times for 23 yards.

The Knights next game against St. Pauls has now been rescheduled for Thursday, April 1st at 7 p.m. The game will be played at West Bladen.
