DUNN – Four West Bladen Lady Knights – Gracie Faircloth, Marlene Crabtree, Kallie Bass and Kali Allen – have been named to the All-Southeastern Athletic Conference Softball team.
Faircloth, a pitcher-infielder, batted .404 with 21 hits, 17 runs, 9 RBIs, 2 doubles, and 1 triple. The senior lead-off hitter posted a .426 on-base percentage and a .480 slugging percentage. In the pitching circle Faircloth finished with a 3-5 record and struck out 31 batters in 29.2 innings.
Highlights for Faircloth included:4 hits and 4 runs scored in a 19-8 win at Clinton; a 4-for-5 performance with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored against Red Springs; 2 hits, 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored in a win at Fairmont; 2 hits and 2 RBIs in win over Clinton.
In the circle Faircloth pitched a 4-hit shutout and struck out 6 in a 10-0 win over Red Springs, and struck out 9 and pitched a 4-hitter in a win over West Columbus.
Crabtree, a pitcher-infielder, batted .341 with 15 hits, 11 runs, 17 RBIs and 1 double. The junior anchored the middle of the West batting order with a .396 on-base percentage and a .363 slugging percentage. In the pitching circle, Crabtree posted a 4-4 record and struck out 23 batters in 42 innings.
Highlights for Crabtree included: 3 hits, 5 RBIs and 2 runs in the 18-3 win over Red Springs; 2 hits including a double, 3 RBIs and 2 runs in win over Fairmont; 2-for-3, 2 RBIs in 10-0 win over Red Springs; 2 hits 2 RBIs and 2 runs in win over Clinton; 2 hits 2 runs and 1 RBI in another win over Clinton.
Crabtree pitched 6.2 innings and allowed no earned runs in a win over Clinton and pitched a complete game 6-hitter in a 10-2 victory over Fairmont.
Bass, a first baseman, batted .341 with 14 hits, 13 runs, 12 RBIs, 5 doubles and 3 triples. The slugging junior recorded a .413 on-base percentage and a .609 slugging percentage.
Highlights included: 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBIs against West Brunswick; RBI triple and 2 runs against Clinton; 3-for-4 with a double and 4 RBIs in 19-8 win over Clinton: a double, a triple and 3 runs scored in 10-2 win over Fairmont; 3-for-3 with a double, 3 runs scored, and 1 RBI in 18-3 win over Red Springs.
Allen, an infielder, batted .342 with 13 hits, 16 runs, 11 RBIs, 5 doubles and 2 triples. The speedy sophomore recorded a .490 on-base percentage and .578 slugging percentage.
Highlights for Allen included: 3 RBIs and 2 runs in 10-2 win over Fairmont; 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run in 9-8 win at Fairmont; 3-for-3 with 2 doubles, a triple and 3 runs in 10-0 win over Red Springs; a double and 3 RBIs in 18-3 win at Red Springs.
