The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) Traffic has an announcement for Bladen County about road closures in the area.
Urgent Road Closure and Detour Notices for DriversTwisted Hickory Road (SR1003) Closure for Crossline Repair.
The NCDOT wishes to inform the public about the upcoming closure of SR1003 (Twisted Hickory Road) due to essential crossline repair work. This closure is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 8:00 AM and is expected to last until Friday, April 12, 2024, at 5:00 PM. Motorists are advised to follow the designated detour that redirects traffic from SR1003 (Twisted Hickory Road) to SR1166 (S. Page Road) and then back to SR1003 (Twisted Hickory Road). NCDOT appreciates your patience and understanding as we work to improve road safety and infrastructure.
US Highway 701N Traffic Update
All traffic on US Highway 701N has been successfully rerouted to the new bridge. Please be advised that there is a WIDE LOAD TRAFFIC RESTRICTION in effect for this route. Drivers carrying wide loads should seek alternative routes and plan their trips accordingly. The NCDOT is committed to ensuring the safety and efficiency of all road users during this transition period.
Elwell Ferry Service Interruption Due to High Water
The NCDOT also announces the temporary closure of the Elwell Ferry service. Starting at 6:30 AM on March 28, 2024, the ferry service will be suspended due to high water conditions. The service is expected to resume on April 9, 2024, at 6:30 AM. We urge the public to make alternative travel arrangements during this period and apologize for any inconvenience caused by this necessary measure.
