The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory until 7 p.m. Tuesday for Bladen County.
Heat index values are expected to reach between 105 and 109 degrees. Actual air temperatures are expected to climb into the 90s with high humidity.
A heat advisory means hot temperatures and high humidity will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. To reduce the risk of heat illness during outdoor work the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
