The bill, which passed 63-36 with about an hour to spare to keep the federal government operating, was signed by President Obama. It will keep the government operating through the end of April.

The bill includes the following storm recovery funding for North Carolina:

** Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery, which will support community needs including housing, infrastructure and jobs that will aid long-term recovery efforts in eastern North Carolina.

** USDA Emergency Conservation Program, which will assist with repairing farm roads, restoring fencing, conservation practices and debris removal.

** Federal Highway Administration Emergency Highway Funding, which will help restore damaged roads, clear debris, and reopen critical roadways that were damaged.

** The Army Corps of Engineers, which will repair damage on Army Corp properties in North Carolina caused by Hurricane Matthew.

“The continuing resolution passed by Congress will provide North Carolina with more than $300 million in immediate assistance to rebuild homes, businesses, schools and roads in wake of the devastation caused by Hurricane Matthew,: Sen. Thom Tillis said. “The recovery process will be long and tough, and in the months ahead, I will be working closely with Governor-elect (Roy) Cooper and my colleagues in Congress to ensure that North Carolina has the financial resources it needs to become whole again.”
