Bladen County, NC – Get ready to witness the unveiling of an extraordinary addition to the recreational landscape as Trillium Health Resources proudly presents the opening of an inclusive playground. This groundbreaking initiative is part of Trillium’s Play Together Accessible Playground grants program, which has transformed 31 playgrounds throughout our region since its inception in 2015.

This remarkable playground was designed with the vision of inclusivity in mind and aims to provide a space where children and adults of all abilities can come together, play, and forge lasting friendships. Gone are the days of exclusion and limited access—this playground sets a new standard for community spaces.

The playground’s thoughtful design boasts a rubber surface, providing a smooth, wheelchair-friendly terrain that allows easy navigation for individuals with assistive devices. With ramps seamlessly integrated into slides and other elements, children of all abilities can experience the joy of sliding down and participating in various activities. Furthermore, the equipment has been meticulously chosen and adapted to cater to those with sensory issues, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone.

This inclusive dream was brought forth thanks to persistent parents, community members, and County officials, such as the Commissioners of Bladen County. Thanks to the unwavering support of Trillium Health Resources, the “Mother County” now has a playground all children can play safely on. Trillium Health Resources reminds the Bladen community that their commitment to fostering a more inclusive society shines through with their generous grant of $500,000 to the Bladen County Parks and Recreation Department, facilitating the construction of this groundbreaking playground. This investment enhances the lives of the local community and inspires other regions to follow suit.

To celebrate this occasion, Trillium and Bladen County cordially invite everyone to join in the grand opening event, regardless of rain or shine. Mark your calendars for Thursday, July 13, from 2 to 4 p.m. The festivities will be held at 172 Doug Evans Road, Clarkton, NC. Bladen County Commissioner Charles Ray Peterson explains this is the County Park off Highway 701, Elizabethtown.

“We hope to have many children at the event to enjoy the new playground. There will be snowcones, ballons, and it will be a lot of fun,” Peterson stated.

The inclusive playground opening signifies a step forward in promoting diversity, acceptance, and equal opportunities for all community members.
