Elizabethtown, NC – Jennifer G. Melvin, Administrative Associate II at Jones Lake State Park, has unveiled an enticing lineup of programs for November 2023. Nature enthusiasts and curious minds alike are invited to participate in a series of engaging events, each designed to offer insights into the unique ecosystems of eastern North Carolina.

November 4th at 10am: Unveiling the World of Snakes

Ever wondered about the snake species that call eastern North Carolina home? Curious about which ones are venomous? Join a park ranger at the Visitor Center on November 4th at 10 am for an exploration of the various snakes found in the area. This free event is open to the public, and attendees are encouraged to call the park office at (910) 588-4550 for additional information.

November 11th at 2pm: Expedition into Carolina Bays

Embark on an educational journey with a park ranger as they reveal the geological mysteries of the Carolina Bays. The tour will delve into formation theories and the natural communities associated with these unique features. Meet at the Jones Lake State Park Visitor Center at 2 pm for this free event. November 18th at 10am: Carolina Bay Hike

Discover the secrets of the bay forest at Jones Lake State Park by joining a park ranger for an invigorating hike. Learn about the flora and fauna of the forest while understanding the significance of Carolina Bays. Participants should gather at the Visitor Center at 10 am. November 25th at 2 pm: Encore Presentation – Snakes Galore!

Missed the first snake adventure? No worries! Join a park ranger for a second exploration of the various snake species in eastern North Carolina on *November 25th at 2 pm.
