BLADENBORO – A 16-9 second-quarter surge sparked West Columbus to a 43-38 Three Rivers Conference jayvee boys basketball victory over West Bladen Wednesday night.

Jadacus Register tossed in a basket and 3 free throws, and center Lancine Soumahoro pumped in 2 baskets as West Bladen built a 9-6 first quarter lead.

Joshua Lewis cashed in four free throws and added a basket to keep West Bladen within 22-18 at halftime. Teammate Donovan Stone buried a 3-point shot.

Stone knocked down another 3-pointer in the third period, and Ricky Brisson and Soumahoro dropped in baskets, but West Columbus extended the lead to 31-25.

Stone fired in a 3-point shot, another basket and 2 free throws in the fourth quarter, and Lewis threw in 2 baskets and 2 free throws.

Stone led the Knight scoring with 13 points, and Lewis followed with 12 points. Soumahoro finished with 6 points.

West Bladen will host St. Pauls Friday.
