RAEFORD – Hoke County defeated West Bladen 12-2 Saturday in the Lady Knight jayvee softball team’s season opener.
The Lady Bucks bunched 4 hits, 3 errors and a walk to scored 6 first-inning runs. Hoke tacked on 3 more runs in the 2nd inning.
Sophomore Hailey Guyton walked, stole 2nd base and darted home on a passed ball with the first Lady Knight run in the 4th inning. Teammate Kylee Ward reached base on an error in the 4th, stole 2nd, and dashed home on Kaitlynn Brisson’s grounder.
Olivia Allen beat out a bunt single for the only West Bladen hit. Maddie Taylor struck out 8 batters, walked 3 and hit one in her 5 innings in the circle for the Lady Knights.
West Bladen will open Three Rivers Conference play Monday at Fairmont.
