ELIZABETHTOWN – East Bladen swept West Columbus 2-0 Thursday night in Three Rivers Conference jayvee volleyball action by set scores of 25-20 and 25-10.
Freshman Merritt Martin sparked the Lady Eagles to an early 9-1 lead with 8 straight service points. A pair of service points from junior Shanell McMillian kept East on top 20-16, and two service points from freshman Alexis Mitchell helped close out the first set.
East Bladen junior Adrienne Howell opened the second set with a service run of 13 consecutive points. A pair of service points from McMillian stretched the lead to 18-3, and two service points from sophomore Cheylee Mathis widened the gap to 24-8.
Howell led the Lady Eagle scoring with 13 service points that included 11 aces. Martin knocked in 9 service points that included 7 aces and had one kill. McMillian finished with 5 service points, 2 aces and 3 kills.
Mathis slammed in 3 kills, an ace and 2 service points. Mitchell drilled in 2 aces, 2 kills and 3 service points. Sophmore Cheyanne Merritt pounded in one ace for the winners.
