Well, we’ve had another amazing eclipse day. I enjoyed it very much. I hope no one suffered any eye damage from the sun. It was still very bright, even with the eclipse viewing glasses; it was an event to remember. And speaking of memories, have you eaten at Melvin’s lately? Maybe you should. Yes, it’s that time again. The fine folks at the Bladen County Health Department have released the report on all the restaurants, cafeterias, and assorted eateries that were inspected for sanitary conditions in March. As usual, the school cafeterias scored very well, but this time around, the fast-food operation at Melvin’s hit it out of the park. It’s still in the top 100 places to eat in North Carolina and the latest inspection is evidence that after more than 80 years, Melvin’s is one of our local favorites.
