A Musical Journey through Generations
In 1987, the world of professional singing witnessed the emergence of McCray Dove, as he was handpicked by none other than Ed O’Neal to join the esteemed male quartet, The Dixie Melody Boys. Over the next 11 years, Dove’s mesmerizing lead vocals became synonymous with the quartet’s iconic sound.
Fast forward to 1998 when McCray Dove, along with his brother, embarked on a bold venture, establishing their quartet – The Dove Brothers Quartet. The decision proved to be a turning point in their careers. Virtually overnight, The Dove Brothers Quartet secured its place as the number one quartet in Southern Gospel Music, a testament to their unwavering faith and undeniable harmony.
A Shift in Focus
By 2018, a new calling beckoned McCray Dove – the role of a pastor. He decided to step back from the rigors of full-time touring, with occasional appearances alongside the Dove Brothers Quartet. His attention shifted towards family and pastoral duties. Alongside his wife, Yvonne, McCray found joy in raising their four children, a blend of one girl and three boys.
Harmony Runs in the Family
One notable aspect of McCray Dove’s approach to parenting is the absence of imposition. He firmly believed that his children should follow their own passions, particularly when it came to music. The desire to sing had to come from within them, rather than being an external expectation. As fate would have it, his sons shared the same passion for music.
In December 2023, the Dove children approached their father with a humble request – they wanted to sing together as a family, with McCray leading the way and imparting the art of harmonizing. The result was nothing short of magical. When David, Andrew, Matthew, and McCray join their voices in unison, a unique and extraordinary harmony is born.
A Night of Inspirational Music
Now, it’s time for the broader community to experience this harmonious journey. All residents and friends of Bladenboro, NC, and its neighboring areas are cordially invited to a special night of gospel music. The event is scheduled for January 28th at 6:00 PM and will take place at New Center Baptist Church, situated at 19894 NC 131 Hwy, Bladenboro, NC.
