A Staff Report

Men and Women United For Youth & Families Board of Directors and Staff came together for their inaugural Meet & Greet Social Event, held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. this past Thursday at the Cape Fear Winery in Elizabethtown, NC. With an impressive turnout of at least 70 attendees, this semi-formal gathering provided an excellent platform for sharing the organization’s latest program activities and projects with partners, supporters, and funders in a relaxing and friendly atmosphere.

With Men & Women United, Rev. Keith Graham delivered a heartfelt message during the event, shedding light on the organization’s incredible work to serve the communities of Bladen and Columbus counties. These two counties, among the largest in the United States in terms of land per capita, present unique challenges due to their vast geographic spread.

“We deliver around 300 boxes of food per week, and it’s still not enough,” Rev. Graham stated, highlighting the ongoing need for support and assistance in these areas. Men and Women United’s commitment to making a difference is evident in their tireless efforts to ensure people have access to basic necessities, even in remote locations.

Rev. Graham also touched on the organization’s remarkable efforts in outreach and community engagement. “We have people that work to know where people are and where they need to be,” he said, emphasizing the proactive approach Men & Women United takes to identify and address the specific needs of individuals and communities.

The organization’s impact extends beyond immediate relief efforts. Rev. Graham shared that in the past year, they provided opportunities for 24 interns to gain valuable experience and contribute to the community through 13 different worksites. Notably, one of these interns was subsequently hired after the internship period, illustrating the tangible and sustainable impact of their programs.

Rev. Graham concluded his address by expressing gratitude to the community for their love and support. He emphasized that Men and Women United’s vital work is made possible through the combined efforts and commitment of the organization and its dedicated supporters.

The Meet & Greet Social Event served not only as an occasion for networking and camaraderie but also as a reminder of the essential work carried out by Men and Women United. The event set the tone for the continued collaboration and support needed to tackle the unique challenges of these expansive counties and make a meaningful difference in the lives of their residents.

Men and Women United’s commitment to the well-being of the communities they serve remains unwavering, and the event was a testament to their dedication to creating a better future for all.
