SoccerRain and lightning was the only thing that could stop a furious East Bladen rally Wednesday night as the Eagles cut a 4-0 Union lead to 4-3 before play was halted at Union.

The Eagles trailed 4-0 with 25:55 remaining in the second half, but sophomore Brooks McGill hit a through ball to sophomore Josue Guvera who banged a shot off the Spartan goalie. Sophomore Kevin Nunoz pounced on the rebound and booted it in for the first East goal.

Five minutes later freshman Greyson Heustess cleared the ball to Guvera who found Nunoz about 20 yards out. Nunoz blasted a rocket to the right of the Spartan keeper for the second East Bladen goal.

Four minutes after that goal, Heustess ran down a ball in the corner and sent a pass across the front of the goal to McGill who headed the ball into the net for the goal that pulled the Eagles to within 4-3 with 16 minutes left to play.

At the 14:55 mark play was halted by the rain and lightning. After a 30-minute delay the officials tried to resume play, but another lightning bolt ended the night.

Freshman goalie Spencer Scott kept the Eagles within striking distance with several outstanding saves and was credited with a total of 12 saves in the game.
