North Carolina Governor, Roy Cooper, announced today NC will move into Phase 3 on Friday, October 4, 2020, and will continue in Phase 3 until October 23, 2020.

Gov. Cooper explained his dimmer switch approach with “moving cautiously forward is because we don’t want to go backward.” He stated high-risk citizens are safer at home.

Following are the Phase 3 guidelines Gov. Cooper addressed during his COVID-19 briefing this afternoon.

Dr. Mandy Cohen, Secretary with North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services presented a COVID-19 trends update. Earlier this week, Dr. Cohen addressed nursing home indoor visits in a press release.

“We have focused on protecting the health of nursing home residents since the start of this crisis. Our progress in testing, infection control and slowing the spread of COVID-19 in our communities allows us to move forward with safe indoor visitation in accordance with federal guidance,” said Cohen, M.D.
