NC DOTFall is here, which means the North Carolina State Fair has arrived. In addition to enjoying the rides and deep fried everything, fairgoers should plan to visit the department’s booths for fun, as well as safety tips and helpful information on a number of topics.

Visited by more than 100,000 people every year, the Safety City attraction, located near Gate 1, informs and engages visitors on things like the dangers of impaired driving and speeding, as well as railroad safety tips, plus seat belt and child passenger protection.

Fairgoers can also receive driver license services from the north Carolina DMV at its booth between Dorton arena and the Jim Graham building. They can renew licenses or ID cards, order duplicates, update an address or get a REAL ID. Visit MyNCDMV.gov to see which documents to bring.

Attendees should also stop by the department’s Roadside Environmental booth which is located at the Flower and Garden show near the Rose Garden. Kids and others can pick up wildflower seed packs, bookmarks, stickers and magnets focused on litter prevention, scenic byways, pollinators and more. Teachers can sign up to receive information on litter and storm water management to give to their students.
