High water from heavy rain over the weekend has closed Elwell Ferry through at least Friday, May 5, according to the N.C. Department of Transportation.
The cable-operated ferry crosses the Cape Fear River and connects N.C. 87 and N.C. 53 connecting Carvers Creek and Kelly. It’s located at 2700 Elwell Ferry Road.
Other road-related announcements for Bladen County include:
• SR1745 (Baltimore Road) at N.C. 87 is closed for crossline repairs. The road is expected to reopen Wednesday, May 3.
