Rumors have been circulating recently that a Waffle House restaurant is seeking to locate in Elizabethtown. To the disappointment of some, the rumors of a Waffle House locating in Elizabethtown are unfounded at this time, according to Town Manager Eddie Madden.

“We have no knowledge of it,” said Madden. He added that no permits have been issued and no zoning requests have been submitted for such a project.

Waffle House has three locations near Elizabethtown. Those restaurants are in Lumberton, Fayetteville and Leland. The first Waffle House location was opened by neighbors Joe Rogers Sr. and Tom Forkner in Avondale Estates, Georgia.

The restaurant, which operates 24 hours, serves a variety of breakfast items including waffles, eggs, omelets, and hash browns. The evening menu includes hamburgers, steaks, and a variety of sandwiches.
