Thoughts While ShavingGov. Roy Cooper is scheduled to be in Bladen County today, according to usually reliable sources.  His tentative schedule includes visits to Clarkton, Bladenboro, Kelly and Rowan area.  He is expected to arrive in Elizabethtown by helicopter, if all goes as planned.

High School sports activities are expected to resume today.  All have been on hold since prior to the arrival of Hurricane Florence.

NCHSAA has announced the regular high school football season has been extended by one week, due to the storm.  Area schools have had 2 games postponed, for many, regular season play will still be one game short.  Check daily schedules in our Sports Section.  John Clark has it covered

Bladen County students return to school Monday, Oct. 1.

Bladen County roads are still an issue, still many closures.

Water is receding county-wide, including Kelly, hardest hit area.  Doesn’t mean it is all-clear, just less water.

So much hurt, all around, but some of us are more fortunate than others….

Volunteers have been busy and many continue their do-good efforts.
