Leon Grimes, Disabled Veterans Outreach Program Specialist and Local Veterans Employment Representative with the North Carolina Department of Commerce/Division of Workforce Solutions, announced an upcoming Job Fair and Veterans’ Stand Down in Bladen County.

Grimes said, “I am a member of a planning committee that includes the Town of Elizabethtown, the Elizabethtown-White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, the Bladen County Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Post, the Bladen County Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post, the Bladen County American Legion Post, and others. We would like to invite the public to attend an extensive Job Fair/Veterans’ Stand Down.”

The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 1, 2023, from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm at the Elizabethtown Baptist Church’s gymnasium.

Folding tables with two chairs will be provided in the gymnasium for each employer, organization, agency, and vendor to enable interaction with the public and hand out applications, brochures, flyers, business cards, and swag.

Grimes explained, “Because of the impact of COVID, it is difficult to gauge exactly how large the crowd will be, but four or five years ago (pre-COVID), a similar event was held at the same location, and over 400 people attended. We are hoping for 400 members of the public to filter through between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm.”

Anyone interested in participating as a vendor at the event, please call Leon Grimes at (919) 621-8053 or email him at Grimes at leon.grimes@commerce.nc.gov with contact information. There is no cost to be a vendor at the event, and there will be no cost to the public for attending the occasion.

Elizabethtown Baptist Church is located at 1800 W Broad Street in Elizabethtown, NC.
