BLADENBORO – Preston Worley has been selected as the new head football coach at West Bladen High School. Worley comes to West Bladen after serving as the defensive coordinator at West Columbus for the last 4 seasons.

The Vikings posted a 25-11 record over Worley’s last 3 seasons there and reached the 3rd and 4th round of the 1A playoffs the past 2 seasons.

Worley will replace Coach Stanley Williams who posted an overall record of 7-22 in his 3 seasons at West Bladen and made the Class 2A playoffs in 2021. Williams resigned earlier this year to take a job at his alma mater in Smithfield.

A Tabor City native and 2014 graduate of South Columbus High, Worley learned his football playing for Coach Jake Fonvielle whose Stallion teams posted a 45-19 record and twice reached the Eastern 2A Finals in 2011 and 2012.

Worley shared that his offense will run the hybrid wing-T, but defensively he will have to adapt to the talent that he has at West Bladen. “I haven’t seen them yet,” said Worley about his new team. “But I will be running over there the rest of this week getting things in place.

“I am super-excited,” said Worley. “West Bladen was one of the schools on my list. It has a great atmosphere, great kids and great facilities. I am looking forward to getting back into 2A football.”
