Below is a letter submitted to BladenOnline.com from Mr. William Moore dated Januray 18, 2020.

Dear Friends,

As you know, I filed to run for an At-Large seat on the Bladen County Board of Commissioners. However, being new to the political process, I quickly discovered that there is much more to running for office than the average citizen would think and I am not prepared to proceed at this time. So after further consideration, I have determined that I cannot be a candidate for the seat this year. Therefore, I have withdrawn my candidacy and I am endorsing Mike Cogdell for the seat.

Unfortunately, the deadline to file was the 20th of December but the deadline to withdraw (and keep your name off the ballot) was the 17th of December. Yes, the deadline to withdraw was actually before the last day to file. That does not seem logical but it is what it is. This means that while I have withdrawn from the race, my name will still be on the ballot.

We as a community have some major issues that we need to address and I wanted to be part of the group trying to address these issues in a meaningful way. But at this time, I know that next time I will have everything planned far in advance and be ready to seek your support. And this time, once again, I ask you to join me in supporting Michael Cogdell for Commissioner.

Sincerely,                                                                                                                                                               William H. Moore
