GREENWOOD, SC – White Oak native Rahu Purdie pumped in 13 points Thursday night, but his Lander Bearcats were edged by Limestone 83-81 in a Peach Belt Conference game. Earlier in the week Purdie scored 11 points at South Carolina.

Purdie connected on 5 of 10 shots from the field and sank both of his foul shots against Limestone. The sophmore guard dished out 4 assists and grabbed 4 rebounds.

The West Bladen grad tossed in the first Bearcat basket of the game and connected on 2 more jump shots in the first half that ended with Limestone ahead 44-40.

Purdie canned another jumper midway the second half then canned 2 free throws at the 2:18 mark that pulled the Bearcats to within 76-73. Purdie drained a 3-point shot with 43 seconds left that cut the Limestone lead to 80-78.

On Tuesday night Purdie scored 11 points as the Bearcats played on the SEC Network at the University of South Carolina. In the second half Purdie dropped in a lay-up then wrapped a pass around a Gamecock defender to T. J. Knight for a lay-up.

Purdie tossed in a pair of floaters from the lane, hit a short pull-up from the baseline and nailed a 3-pointer from the top of the key. Purdie connected on 5 of 6 shots from the field, dished out 3 assists and drew praise from SEC commentator Kyle Macy.

South Carolina won the game 90-62, but the Bearcats outscored the Gamecocks 46-37 in the second half.
