Friday March 26, 2021 5pm – The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office is announcing a $10,000.00 reward for information leading to probable cause for the issuance of warrants and the arrest of the suspect(s) responsible for the Murder of Julie Eberly. The murder occurred on Thursday March 25, 2021 around 11:40am on I95 South near Exit 22.

The reward was provided to the Sheriff on Friday afternoon by a Robeson County resident that wishes to remain anonymous. “While we hope that anyone with information in this case would come forward, this provided incentive should be cause to do so even more. I appreciate the resident coming forth with this reward” says Sheriff Burnis Wilkins.

The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Division is leading the investigation and continues to seek video footage or eyewitness accounts of the road rage incident that occurred between the 23 and 25 marker along I95 South. The suspect vehicle then exited at exit 22 coming into Lumberton on Fayetteville Road.

Anyone with information is asked to call 910-671-3170 or email sheriff@robesoncoso.org

From Sheriff Wilkins, Robeson County Sheriff

Good afternoon everyone. Just wanted to keep everyone updated as we continue to search for clues leading to the identity of the coward suspect that shot and killed Julie Eberly yesterday along I95 in Lumberton. Homicide Detectives have worked non stop and are continuing their efforts to locate video footage and are currently reviewing hours of footage as I write this. Other investigative techniques are taking place to identify the vehicle and driver as well.

I personally met her husband Ryan and his parents this morning. The parents arrived in town late last night to accompany their son. As devastated as they are, they were so appreciative of the outpouring of support they have received not only from their home community in Pennsylvania but our community as well. Ryan’s dad even spoke of the staff at Comfort Suites in Lumberton coming up to him this morning and saying a prayer for the family. He also explained they had to tell the kids of this tragic event yesterday. What’s really sad is that Ryan and his wife celebrated their wedding anniversary the day before yesterday and were taking this trip to Hilton Head Island as a get away. The picture speaks a thousand words. The hurt in his eyes and voice this morning spoke even more.

I say all of that to say this. “Thank You Robeson County”. It literally brings tears to my eyes to know that you have come forward in such a way to want to assist this family especially as they are from out of state. That alone speaks volumes. I along with others here at the office have been contacted hundreds upon hundreds of times since last night asking where to send money. The family at first didn’t want anything but were appreciative. I asked that they reconsider and they did. Please do what you can to assist this family by clicking the link below as they await Julie to be sent back home knowing they have to set up funeral arrangements and prepare for a new life without a daughter, mom, grandmother and wife.

I need your help. Let’s show others that we won’t tolerate this. This murderous coward must be caught. Please come forward with information that I know someone has. Or better yet, be a man and turn yourself in as I am sure you will read this. God won’t forget and we won’t give up on bringing you to justice. Thanks everyone, be blessed and have a safe weekend. ??
