A ribbon cutting was held on Thursday morning at the Sharonview Federal Credit Union in Tar Heel.  The bank is located at 16616 NC 87 West, Tar Heel and is open Monday though Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

According to Branch Manger Lauryn Godwin, Sharonview has been around since 1955. She said the bank began in 1955 with just $11,000 in assets and today, it has over $1 billion in assets. Godwin said there are three locations in North Carolina, as well as locations in South Carolina and one location in New Jersey.

Godwin said the Tar Heel branch of the credit union has been located at its present site for about eight years.

“We have a community charter, so anyone who lives, works, or worships in Bladen County can bank here,” said Godwin.

She thanked everyone for coming out to the ribbon cutting.

The Elizabethtown-White Lake Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Dawn Maynard  said, “They are newest member of the Chamber of Commerce and I encourage folks to explore the opportunities available at Sharonview, if you live or work in Bladen County.”
