NEWTON GROVE– West Bladen junior Demon’tre Love was the runner-up Wednesday in the Southeastern Athletic Conference’s boys’ cross country championship race finishing in 18 minutes, 32 seconds -only 18.22 seconds behind Clinton senior Cristian Ortiz (18:13.78).
Love has finished 2nd behind Ortiz in all six SAC-6 races this season. Both qualified for the NCHSAA Class 2A MidEast Regionals Saturday, Oct. 28th at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary.
Other West Bladen finishers in Wednesday’s race were: freshman Bradley Yandle, 16th (22.30.90); sophomore Dylan Taylor, 19th (23:02.54); junior Raul Morales, 23rd (23:55.51); junior Antuan Martinez-Sanchez, 27th (25:47.55).
The girls results for Wednesday’s race have not yet been released.
